INFORMATION ON MUGHAL RULERS

                                                           MUGHAL SULTUNATE
                                                                  
                                                                (1526-1707)

1.BABUR-

  • Babur was the first Mughal emperor.
  • He defeated Ibrahim Lodi at the first battle of Panipat in 1526.
  • He ruled till 1530.
  • He defeated the Rana Sangha of Mewar.
  • He also defeated the combined forces of Bengal and Bihar.



2.HUMAYUN-
  • Humayun was the second Mughal emperor.
  • His reign was surrounded by several hostile powers such as Afghan ruler Sher Shah Suri,ruler of Gujrat and by his own brothers Kamran,Hindal and Asaki.
  • He ruled from 1530-1540 and then from 1555-1556.



3.AKBAR-
  • Akbar was a worthy king.
  • He became the ruler at the age of 13.
  • He was guided by Bairam Khan.
  • He captured Sindh,Bengal and many more territories.



4.Jahangir-
  • In the reign of Jahangir Sir Thomas Roe was sent as an ambassador from British East India company to get permission from Jahangir to set up a factory in Mughal area.
  • In Jahangir's reign there was arrival of Guru Arjan Dev.
  • He gave Lord Khurram the title of Shah Jahan because he captured Mewar which was very powerful at that time.
  • Nur Jahan was the wife of Jahangir.



5.SHAH JAHAN-
  • Shah Jahan reign is said to be the best period in Mughal history.
  • He built many monuments such as Taj Mahal,Jama Masjid etc.
  • At his time three kingdom came in power which were a challange for the whole Mughal emperor.These kingdoms were Ahmad Nagar,Golcanda and Bijapur.Later Shah Jahan asked all kingdoms to submit to Mughal authority.Later Ahmad Nagar and Golcanda submitted but Bijapur did not.
  • In the reign of Shah Jahan Kabul was lost by the Mughal authority forever.



6.AURANZEB-
  • Auranzeb was a cruel ruler.
  • He lost control over Sikhs,Rajputs and Jats.
  • He made relations with Rajputs and Shivaji.
  • In his reign there was also battle of Sikhs.
